I would say I'm a regular at Steak N Shake. I usually come in on lunch breaks during the week & have an 'OK' experience. However, I recently came in between 12:30 - 1:00 am & had the best experience that I've ever had in this store. I must commend you on your 3rd shift staff. The 3 girls (including the manager on shift) were very pleasant and upbeat servers. I enjoyed the girls hard work & excitement while doing their jobs. I never felt more at home in your store! The food was delicious, came out on a very timely manner & served perfectly. Thank you Steak 'n Shake 3rd shift for such a pleasant experience !

Half cooked chicken

Ordered a grilled chicken salad at drive thru no one behind me in drive thru but I was asked to pull to front door because they was cooking the chicken. Had to wait 15 minutes at door for salad. Got home with my salad which is 10 miles away and the chicken was still pink on inside. Needless to say that was a wasted $7. Will not have to worry aboute EVER returning to another Steak n Shake. Not up for food poisoning!!

Richmond Indiana

We went to Richmond Indiana waited in line to be seated for 6 minutes, servers walked by numerous time and didn't acknowledge us! Finally sat us down , 8 min later server comes to table to get order! Always like this at this location! Very bad service ! Won't be back !

Unfriendly to the blind

Went to your Linton Ave, Delray Beach, Fla location last nite with a visually impaired friend and his guide dog. The guy at the door hollered that we couldn't bring the dog in - after I pointed out that it was an ADA compliant guide dog the guy laughed in our faces. - A waitress came up and told us we could bring it in but would have to sit where they wanted us to - we told her we would sit where we wanted. After we sat down - a few young men sitting at the next table starting sneezing and complaining they were allergic to the dog and we should move or leave - We asked to see the manager who hemmed and hawed and seemed clueless about what to do - Everything the staff did was in direct violation of the law and we decided to leave as it was now the most unpleasant experience we ever had. We will be notifying the proper authorities about the lack of compliance with the law and discrimination and filing a complaint with the local Better Business bureau - we may even pursue a legal remedy.

long time Customer

A Few weeks ago I called to complain About my breakfest and the cook putting her fingers in my food. I have gone to the same store 10701 E Washington st. I guess they are all mad at me for complaining including The Manager. They seem to look past me and the service is unbearable!!!! Im done i wont go back!!!

Disappointed

I cannot find a store in my area that is acceptable. The one in Fairview Heights IL had extremely poor service and gave the wrong order. The one in Collinsville IL had awful evening service, rude staff, and incorrect orders. The one in O'Fallon IL. (the last one I went to the other day), was a joke. The servers didn't have a clue what they were doing, brought the wrong food, had to ask for food, didn't know the menu, fingers in the food while serving, dirty hands, and a generally bad experience. I use to love Steak n' Shake and have been eating there over forty years, but now I'm actually thinking about "giving up" on them. Too bad, they used to be great!!

poor service

I had a big problem at one of your restrants in Springfield MO. this morning 6/2/13 the one on 3755 S Champbell I eat at several of your locations in Springfield but the food on south camble has the best. But this morning they did not even put enoigh gravy on my biscits to even cover half of what was on my plate. Have had this problem befor at this same location and they have fixed it without any problems usally because I have had others with me and you could cumpare the plates and see the cook had just shorted one of the plates. Well I ate alone this morning and when they sent it out short on gravy they charged me an extra $1.50 for what should of already been on my plate. I no that don't sound like a lot of money but if they did that every time they short you it would ad up real fast. I am sure that I am not important enough to get this fixed but I have probally ate at your stores for the last time. Really a shame that I will go where the food is not as good over such a small amout of money. Its ashame that this does not go to corprate or someone that can fix the problm really a shame

GREASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I visit the London, Ky. location through the drive thru a lot over the years since it opened here. I have gotten greasy burgers in the past but the last few time and especially today have done it for me!!!! No more trips to this location!!!!!

The grease from the burger (triple) was so bad it was coming through the bottom of the bag. The grease had already soaked through the burger wrapping. The bun on top was grease soaked as well as part of the bottom bun. Pressing a napkin to the bun would soak the napkin with grease!!!!!

Needless to say, my dog will get a burger this afternoon!!!!

Definitely a huge contributor to clogged arteries and heart attacks and strokes!!!!!!!

By pass this location if you value your health!!!!!

Horrible service

We just stopped at the Steak N Shake on Woodland in Indianapolis. We waited for over 45 minutes before we were served water. When I asked her what happened to our dinner, she still had not placed it. We left and about another dozen people followed us out because of no service. This location scored a zero for customer service.

longtime costomer, worst service ever

I've been going to steak n shake for over 13 years, today i went in for a quick burger because a van was blocking the drive thru. Talked with 3 different staff members, tried to place an order, and was rudely told by management that they couldn't serve anything, because the hoods were being cleaned. To be fair, there was a sign on the door that said the store was closed that i didn't notice... yet the doors were open, there was a full staff, .... and the staff either didn't care to tell me or didn't know... and management should never ever be disrespectful to costumers. when i pointed to the sign of "satisfaction gauranteed" one of the blue shirts threatened to call the cops... for what i don't know, because at that point I was still trying to patronize the establishment. I think I will still go to other steak n shakes. but never this one again (dorthy lane dayton,ohio).

Former customer - as of today!

What has happened to your restaurant? It has declined steadily over the past few years. I have eliminated going to specific locations due to bad service - and a bad company attitude. Today was my last visit to any Steak n'Shake - owing to slow service (server was busy talking with other servers) and messing up my order. The burger was cold, and not as ordered. I received no silverware, nor did a receive a check until I was at the register. I realize that our (customer) complaints mean very little to you, since none of my previous complaints have ever been resolved. So - thanks for nothing. I am totally disgusted with your company.

old burgers - not fresh off the grill

Bought the portabella and swiss, just not fresh. How ironic for a business whose philosophy is based on serving fresh hot food. Made a complaint to the manager at the Illinois St. location in Fort Wayne. She simply said it did not occur.

URGENT: HELP THIS STORE!

Me and my partner love eating at SNS we eat there quite often absolutely love the chili there! But the SNS in Springfield, MO on South Campbell is without a doubt the worse SNS I have ever eaten at and it sucks because it the closest one to my house and if want SNS that the one i have to settle for! But this facility gives all SNS a VERY VERY bad name and makes the food seems even worse! If it wasn't for the fact that I know that not every SNS is like this one i would never come back to SNS again! Someone needs to get a grip on this store real quick because they are giving the whole corporation a very bad image! There is hope for this store you just need some employees in there that acutally care about the business and stop serving the worse possible food and handing it out any way just to get it out the door and get the sales! Plus the employees are very sloppy! Someone get out and help this store I bet if the CEO of SNS seen how it was opperated he was would be a very disappointed person!

Horrible

Cannes to Steak 'n Shake at 2:30am, server had no idea what she was doing, seemed out if it the whole time. Told us the cook no idea what he was doing and they just threw him on the line. So the staff was horrible took way to long for our shake to come out and our food took like 45 mins. This was location is the worst. Boynton beach florida on old boynton. Worst location! Never go here.

Hair in my husbands soda cup

My husband and I were getting ready to leave Central Georgia and we stopped at the S/S in Warner Robins today we went through the drive thru we finished eating my husband ask me to fill up his cup with water. I open the lid up and I saw a piece of hair. It was extremely GROSS, especially knowing that' my husband drank out of that cup and didnt know there was piece of hair in the cup. It is a good thing that where we live at in Florida the S/S is 6 miles away. The thing that is sad is we got great customer service...We, wont be going to another S/S for a very long time...

what did you do to the chili?

Back in the 80's you had great chili. Why did you change the it? Now it has a weird flavor and I can no longer stand to eat it.

Bad service/

I have had 3 recent poor experiences at our local SNS in Lawrence, KS The first was Nov.8, 2012 at ~ 8:30 pm as I drove into the parking lot I observed 4 employees standing outside talking- went to the drive through waited ~ 4 min. blew my horn proceeded around front of building as no one came to the window- found no one outside so proceeded to the drivethrough and was waited on. I asked why no one had responded -reply was oh, guess we were on a break. SEcond time Sun. Nov. 17 10:30 pm place empty our party of 4 were the only ones in the place- I ordered a burger NO BUN I can not have the bun (celiac disease and SNS does not offer GF Buns!) When our orders finally came 20 minutes later it was on a BUN!!! While my family ate I had to wait another 15 minutes for what I ordered burger NO BUN> Third and Final visit to SNS was Sat. Dec. 1 place was crowed waited at door for 5 min. then my granddaughter and I asked if we could sit at the counter. BIG mistake- as what I observed was sickening!!! I have been a Food SErvice manager for 35 yrs. OMG!!! the Poor supervisor, staff untrained the dirtiness of the place- we finally had someone take our order........ after 25 min. of watching horror i told my granddaughter if we did not get served in 5 min. we were leaving as I was experiencing a low blood sugar and getting sick. She spoke up to the young man at the cashier station whom was constantly giving excuses to the poor service that I needed some food ASAP. He reacted very quickly- and oh gee our food was ready and had been sitting in the window. The - I assumed supervisor/manager- female was the grill cook, hair flying all over, BUT she did change her gloves, yelling at staff, running across the area by the grills slipping on greasy floor giving money from the safe- throwing bread racks, trash cans overflowing. i will admit it was a very busy day in Lawrence, KS our annual Christmas parade, a sweater run etc. However, staff was not scheduled- over head short staff today -then why didn't the Supervisor Close one section and handle the areas and move people in and out and bus tables - i observed staff standing around swing a rag in the kitchen areas and her yelling I got a 25 min wait at the drive through!!! corp. needs to pay this store a visit and do some serious training- customer service, sanataion, how to supervisor. my granddauthers chili was good but it will be the last time we dine at SNS. Said as the food is usally good and the prices are great.
